I'm getting ready to go to a coal breaker for the first time. What's a good quality rice coal? Jeddo, lehigh, reading. I'm located in the Stroudsburg pa area, but willing to travel a little to save a lot. Thanks, Dan

Can't really go wrong with any of the big names... I use Lehigh and am very happy with the way it burns in my Keystoker.

I have had good coal in VERY WET bags that would burn just fine - AFTER I drained the water off.
since you are doing direct and may not be getting bags...this comment may not apply.
I like the Blaschak in bags...would go there first
Reading was OK, but seemed to get a bit more 'unburnables' (slate?) in the ash pan

Well, I don't burn Rice coal but my brother did and he always considered the coal from Lehigh Coal, to be better coal (less ash) over the higher priced Coal from Blasak.
And when you take into account that at the time my brother lived in Landsford, so Lehigh's retail Sales was 14miles closer.

First year burning Lehigh, less ash for sure, nice stuff. Not so fond of the other suppliers listed. Been burning since 1981.

Thanks to all that replied. Jeddo was closest and cheaper but they closed too early. I ended up going with Blashak, we will see. Thanks again for your time and help, Dan

Have been using Blaschak now for the past two years, only because it is so hard to find any coal in western MA. I think that coal creates a lot more ash than others I have used in the past, Lehigh, Reading & Kimmels.
