Stoker Coal Boiler: Harmon Super Magnum Coal Stoker

Post by boccia52706 » Tue. Oct. 22, 2019 1:57 pm

I just had a Harmon Stoker stove installed and started it up yesterday for the first time. The ash does not seem right. It is brown/red/light brown, and looks like small rocks. I've heard to adjust the blower but we don't have a blower adjustment on the stove. Just room temp knob, stove temp knob, and feeder knob. The feeder is on 3 with temp set at 70 right now. What should I do?

It is not possible to change the ash color of any coal ash as it is from the different trace minerals locked into the coal from when the coal was formed some many days ago. :)

You adjust the blower by "blanking off" a portion of the fan's air intake grille.

Some fans would have a "swing plate" with a fastener as a locking pivot point, lacking that, some have improvised and added refrigerator magnet(s) to accomplish the same air reduction effect.
