Bituminous coal for blacksmithing projects

My neighbor uses bituminous coal for his blacksmithing projects and I am trying to locate a source to supply his needs and my fascination of learning as well. Can anyone suggest a location near the East Texas region or surrounding areas that can help in this inquiry. Willing to travel to retrieve, but have been unsuccessful thus far.

Thank you for ANY suggestions/directions...

Hand Fed Coal Stove: HAND FIRED HARMON
Coal Size/Type: STOVE
Other Heating: Oil fired hotwater baseboard

There are Coal mines still operating in Northern Alabama & Mississippi. Those places are a Hell of a lot closer to you than I am...

There is also some coal mining in Arkansas...
