Can anyone give me info on hard pea coal prices and location. I am about 30 minutes southwest of Altoona and we pay $200-$210 per ton. I have access to a dump trailer that would handle around 3 ton and am trying to figure out if I could take a trip and save some money. I probably wouldn’t drive 4 hours but 2-3 hours if the savings were right would be possible. Thanks

Is that a bagged price? Seems a bit pricey for bulk PA coal.

I live in the coal area, mines are a few miles away in fact. I still pay 210 a ton delivered in season and I always buy the whole truck load 6 tons. I am not sure but I think you might pay around 180 off season at the breaker. My guy delivers it, goes into my 12 ton bin and hand shovels it evenly. I pay 50 bucks extra for him to put 5 gal of oil on it in the truck so its mixed in.

Thats a pretty good price for Western Pa, really dont think it would be worth your time to travel a few hours each direction.Coal’d Digger wrote: ↑Fri. It is bulk by the ton. I think in the summer it’s around $195. I would have driven if the savings were worth it but it sounds like it would not be worth the drive. Thanks for all the input. It is appreciated

Probably wouldn’t make a difference but the $210 per ton is not delivered. That’s the price at the yard.

I'd have to agree with Matt that is reasonable price, you certainly wouldn't save anything hauling it yourself.
