That’s all I’ve really used for the last 20 years!!!! I burned a ton of the TSC coal last year and it seemed to do ok, but the Santa coal is cheaper than the TSC coal!!!!
yeah I always have great luck with the wash system they use as I get next to no fines.....My girls thought it was delivered by Santa when they were younger....They used to ask why was I so bad....HA HA

I'm still on TSC for the top Coal for my Super Mag. No fines, just damp enough so no dust, burns flawless. Much better the the Santa's Coal I used in the past. Again I've been burning 24/7 since Oct 1st. Got down to -25 deg so far this winter. Northern NH's winter and burning TSC will last until April probably as it has every year for the 14 yrs I've been here.

I picked up a few bags of rice at TSC in Sussex, NJ, and it seemed to be closer to buckwheat size.

I don't what Buckwheat is never had it but TSC Rice has burnt so nice since Oct 1st. here in Northern NH. At least in my Harman Super Mag. I'm amazed no fines ever. Must of been cleaned good. Also still no water in and just damp enough for no dust.

Rice in the Glenwood? No, you will not get the same output. Much of the rice coal would drop through the grates.

Good catch! I really like the lack of "trial and error" needed due to everyone sharing info...

Yup, stick with the nut size for your Glen. Other than that, you could experiment with pea or stove size. Generally speaking, pea size will burn slower, longer and cooler. Stove size will burn faster, shorter and hotter.

Welcome to the forum :) . I would not run anything smaller then nut in a Glenwood, I run range ( 50/50 mix of nut and stove) works very well for me, I can get the heat when I need it and I can idle it around 200° when I need too.

I think that is the problem with putting a fuse in line is that it won’t react fast enough b4 the gears are broken, I wish Alaska put something in to protect that motor (expensive)
didn't read the entire thread but would it be possible to fashion and attach a kind of concave screen at/over the top of the hopper to catch the big pieces before they get down into the gears? .. . maybe the manufacturer could offer this as an add on?

talked to the Manufacturer and they won’t put the $$$$ into it ! They may buy or use an idea if we come up with a solution but they would lose sales on the parts !!!!
