State Tax Rate Publication 718-R gives jurisdictions (City, County or school district) the right to impose a tax or use rate of their choosing. For me in Franklin County it is 2% on:
•natural gas
•propane sold in containers of 100 pounds or more
•electricity
•steam
•gas, electric, and steam services
•fuel oil (except diesel motor fuel)
•coal
•wood (for heating purposes only)

That is if you buy from a business in franklin county correct? You can come to Clinton county and not have to pay a tax?

Correct. He can come to Chazy and buy Lehigh coal tax free.

Lol no lehigh for sale here, but there are a couple places that sell kimmel, and blaschak bagged. And a guy that sells reading bulk.
Probably looking a 275-295/ton.

Duprey's Feeds in Chazy sells bagged Lehigh. I believe they stock rice and nut sizes.

Well I’ll be damned! My bad, I never saw it go on the lehigh dealer thread, I’m curious too as to what there charging compared to other folks here.

Hmm, 18 / 19 coal prices ? i guess i have nothing to contribute here, i'll check back in 7 yrs or so.

Good morning, all. I just joined this forum today after reading through numerous threads for a couple of days. Very informative; I think I learned more about burning coal in a couple of days than I accumulated through the years of trial and error.
I've been burning wood in my Harman coal stove for almost a decade now and have decided to give coal a try again (burned it during the winter of '08, my first full winter back in PA). Wood processing is taking too much of a toll in terms of time and aggravation of various injuries I've accumulated throughout the years.
I called my local hardware store, New Milford Hardware (570-465-7575) and they sell palleted bagged Lehigh coal for $234.50/ton as of yesterday, $30 for delivery (not per ton, per delivery). I don't think they'll deliver far from their store, but I thought the price was fair so I placed an order for 3 ton of nut to get me through the coldest months (I've got plenty of wood split and stacked).
So that'll be my plan from now on, wood in the shoulder seasons, coal during the coldest part of the winter. I look forward to longer burn times and less abuse on my frame. I hope this was helpful to some local people in Susquehanna county.
