Have you ever burnt tar ?? How would you control the burn ?? How could you face your neighbors afterwards ??...assuming you lived thru it & still had your house in good condition.Jimeeh1970 wrote: ↑Fri. Jan. 12, 2018 6:06 pmFreetown Fred...Why not?

Those grit pebbles won't burn & neither will the fiberglass hairs burn very well.
The tar will melt down into your grate holes..... yep, you will have 1 awful mess to cleanup if you survive

I have about 6 bundles at the house and I'm only a half hour away.
Let us know if you decide to try it and I'll run some more up for you. Then again....... I should be able to see the smoke and flames from here !

Ive burned lots of things but not shingles. I would not try it in a stoker. Im not sure I'd try it in a handfed either. Tires would be an improvement but I wouldnt burn them in a stoker either.

I happen to know they range between 5,000 and 7,000 btu depending on the manufacturer.Jimeeh1970 wrote: ↑Fri. Jan. 12, 2018 9:26 pmYou guys obviously dont know the BTU content of asphalt shingles.
That is if you lab test them in an oxygen bomb calorimeter.
