Moved here last May. After only 2months of propane I hate it. I miss my old modified Hot Blast. Before I decide what to get or build I'd like to know what coal is readily available in the area. Used to be a lot of local mines but they seem to all be gone. Probably going to do hot water heat under the floors. Only have a crawl space VS a full basement so it'll be outside.

Should be able to find Eastern Kentucky coal close by. How far from Norton Virginia? There's some places selling Kentucky coal $100 a ton.

Looks to be 2hrs to Norton VA.
100/ton for KY coal is one good deal. I paid 130/ton for "ok" ne Ohio coal. Now to pick a furnace. Didn't get to pull the hot blast out before the house sold. I'll start that thread elseware.

Thanks for the input.
