Does anyone have the density figures for Lehigh? I want to make sure I have enough room for 8tn in my bin this weekend. I think it will be cutting it close but will work if coal is at or above 52#/cuft
Ive seen generic figures from 40-60#/cuft mined and 80#/cuft for slab coal.

Cool so I should be about right on at 52-54#/CF for rice.
Bin is 7.67x7.67x5.17 full to the gills. I think I can make 8tn fit.

Oh thank you sir, just curious more than anything else. Also, maybe you could shed some light on how they come up with the figures. Do they measure a single square foot? Or do they measure the volume of a large quantity and divide?

Incase anyone cares, I got 8tn of Lehigh rice into my bin yesterday. Wasn't sure if I was going to fit it all. As it ends up I could probably squeeze another .5 to .75 ton.
The delivery was prompt but required a bit more elbow grease than I thought it would. Even though the 6wheeler sits way higher than the dump trailer, it was still not enough to get the amount of slope needed to self feed the coal into the bin. It took about 1.5hr to 'assist' the coal down the chute. All in all not bad, but cost me a little more having the truck hang out in my yard ended up at 204/ton delivered. Still cheaper than the 'coal guys' available in my area.
This should last 2 years. Have some ruts to fix now too thanks to the wet summer. Ugh. I guess that's what 30,000# will do.
Now on to finishing the coal vac.

Coal doesn't like rounded chutes, loves a flat bottom and will take a lot of work out of it. I use the kids slide!
