My apologies Fred, somehow I misinterpreted your statement as 20 "times", and not 20 miles. The senility is gaining on me daily.freetown fred wrote: ↑Mon. News Flash Joe--welcome to my world!!! LOL
As far as I'm concerned I don't care what mine it's from.. TSC has been good thru the last 3 years. I would not call it crap.. This 6 ton I bought in September has been flawless as well. The only thing I didn't like was the Hoaky bags the first season I got.. they must of realized it too as they changed.
Been burning it 24/7 since Oct 1st. getting down to the 20's all last week. Rivers are iced over and now on the ground. So what I'm saying is the Super Mag has been cranking to keep this 2000 sq ft house with some open air spaces due to my shop in the basement (with the stove) going strong. Love the great bags with handles and not much water in them.

As you probably know.. You have to buy on sale.. only catch.. I just got another flyer 10% off .. Every summer they have the pre order sales..
The cheapest here for Blazcak is $309 per ton. And it hasn't been any better I used it for 8 yrs here. I paid $275.. not a huge savings buying only 6 tons but didn't have to drive far and picked it up on a Sunday. And bought local.

+1 for TSC - we live in the middle of Eastern Shore Maryland so getting bulk delivered is near impossible. Fortunately, for us, TSC in Dover, DE has been a steady supplier for our coal. We, too, have had the same experiences with "TSC" coal and have found it burns very well in the TLC2000 (and, yes, the handled bags the last 2 years have made slinging the bags around much easier!)captcaper wrote: ↑Wed. Haven't found a supplier close enough that the delivery charge doesn't offset the savings of buying in bulk. As of now, TSC is our only reasonable source of Anthracite - but I continue to look each Fall

Lehigh anthracite I’m sure will deliver a bulk TT load.

Not really, unless you live in the suburbs in less than half an acre..

I got a 25 bag sample of TS nut last month. I thought I would try some, as my closest TS had the coal branded as "Premium", not "Miner's Choice". The last time I sampled any was 3 or 4 years ago when they were selling Kimmels. The Kimmels was ok for shoulder season heating and seemed to be semi-anthracite. Also it was only $4.50 to $5.00 a bag.
IMO, this years TS is some strange stuff. I got 25 bags off the same pallet. The coal is very light and flaky, even the stove size pieces. Sure looks like semi-ant to me. Half the bags of nut have a whole lot of fines, a little nut, a lot of pea and rice and more fines. The other half of the bags are the same coal, stove and nut sized and not excessive fines. Unlike other semi-ant I have burned, this weird stuff takes a lot of air to burn. Empties my hopper in one 12 hr. session at mild to moderate burn. About twice the consumption I am used to. I won't be getting any more.
For those whose only source is TS, it is a good thing that they are supplying it. They may be sourcing it from multiple places and some of it may be good. I recall several people outside of Pa. reporting that they have seen Lehigh at TS, in the past.

We only use about 1-1/2 tons per season so that would be a bit much. I am contemplating building a bin large enough for ~4 tons and replenish it every other year via bulk delivery.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Wed. Nov. 15, 2017 6:43 pmLehigh anthracite I’m sure will deliver a bulk TT load.
Semi-Anthracite? never heard of it ha.. been burning coal since 1981.. used all kinds from all places.. always burnt as Coal does. I always had a good stove and draft.
