Be nice if people put their location in the profile section.

Isn't the general trend for price to rise during winter, and fall in the off-season?

All the yards around here keep the same price all year.

Thanks! That's good to know. I certainly thought otherwise (using classic supply/demand as my guide).

Coal retail sales away from the coal region are mostly just a seasonal sideline to another main enterprise, and they usually reassess retail pricing to suit multiple factors in any given season. Everything does, as always, trinkle down ultimatly to the end user.

I've been paying my dealer about $6 per #40 bag, give or take, for the past several years. For all the ups and downs of the economy, posturing by that @sswipe Obama, et al, it's stayed pretty consistent. But then again here in Michigan, far from the NEPA coal fields, I'd expect to pay more. Still worth it though. Even with propane here in the U.P. hovering at about $1.10gal, it's still hard to beat the glorious heat produced by my wood/coal furnace, even on the coldest days. I'd burn a LOT of propane to get the same amount of heat!!

I've gotten my coal on Labor day for the last two years.
4 ton bulk rice delivered.
2015 - $230 per ton delv.
2016 - $225 per ton delv.
Going to have at least a solid ton and a half if not more left at the end of the season. This would be a great issue to have if I was going to keep my Stoker next year but the rice isn't going to burn well in a Hitzer 50-93....

I would think that coal prices will go lower since a ton of regulations have been removed.

Absolutely !!

Right after automobile prices drop $5,000 each, oil drops to 1970 levels, employee wages decrease by $5.00/hr.

Looking at it again.. After looking at the things listed above....

I seriously doubt that coal prices will drop & actually ,i hope they don't...

The coal mining companies are operating on the edge now, they need to start profiting from their work & product.

Then, why is the coal industry happy when a bunch of regs were lifted? Weren't the old regs killing business?
