Definitely want a review and report on the HFH90 when you get it up and running, that's the stove I eventually want to get

Personally on my little stove right now all I have is an MPD, if I didn't my draft would suck the coal right up the chimney (well maybe not really), but I run with it closed almost all the time. I have burnt several different brands of coal (Redding, South Tamaqua and an unknown) but the Lehigh I got last year (didn't need to get any more this year) is by far the easiest to get long slow burns for me.

Of course we all want pics on the hearth build and install

I rotate them on my desktop computer. Others have had luck by holding the camera phone differently.

Are you installing this keystoker in a chase and not connecting it to a regular chimney ????????

I may have looked at the photos the wrong way, but if that is how you were going to connect it, STOP IMMEDIATELY !!!!!!!!

This stove needs either a regular masonry chimney or a triple wall stack out through the roof.

Easy , Killer. That was 3 hrs of work. I'm venting it with the Ventis stove pipe to ventis 316 as 6" class a chimney piping. Still working out what all to do up top ( ceiling , roof connetions. ). Either re working the framing and doing a cathedral ceiling box or boxing it out fort the attic box. There was just a chase for a vent free glass. I'm building a hearth for Christmas my chimney pipe should be on it way by the end of the week. The shops around here only offered the "304" or "406" innards.

I'm adding foil insulation, then cement board. 1" air gap another layer of cement board , then stone face. 3" thick flagstone going on a wet bed to the floor.

I imagine I'd get rather "sleepy" and hot all at the same time if I lit her off like that. Would you take a long nap or burn up , that's the question.

Now that you explained how you were going to vent it, I feel better.

But after seeing how some want to install stoves, it made me issue that cease and desist order. Sorry.

That made me laugh but I no room to talk since I grew up in Royersford.

Journeyman... it looks and sounds like you have it well under control but in Rick's defense, when just seeing those couple pics without a lot of description AND knowing how some have shortcut'ed installs, sadly it wouldn't have surprised a lot of us to see a single wall pipe going through the faced insulation and plywood and vinyl siding to a dryer vent termination for a chimney set up!

I'll be the one to mention - if you don't already have them - how important it is to have a couple CO monitors, digital readout preferable to just an alarm.

The stove is in there so I can get a visual on how everything Is going to go together. That baro is gross. The directions say to not have pointed towards walls etc. I'd like to have the baro facing the back stone wall when I'm all said and done. Going to call around for coal prices tomorrow, see what breakers will be on site this Friday.
Last time I called the big guys were getting 120/t.

You want to see coal prices, go to DirenzoCoal.com and scroll down. Their prices are all on the site. I think you will find everybody is pretty close to each other.

I made my coal purchase. I went and saw Job @ Gale mining
Super experience, Job took the time to give me a tutorial on coal burning with a hand fired stove. Even hooked me up with some refractory cement for my CAST iron stove. Truly positive experience and nice product to boot. His operation is top notch. To the men and women at Gale Mining. You have my business.

I have a call in for the Ventis 316ss class A chimney piping. My keystoker install is 2-3 weeks away from bringing the heat.
