We are a group of friends and family from the Binghamton/ Cortland area looking to buy quality coal by the truckload. We are looking into this to save money over retail.
We are looking for top quality coal and are wondering if there are any of you out there that have purchased from the northern dealers? Not having to travel to the southern/central PA would be helpful. Right now our plan is to come down with several pickups and dump trailers. We would be interested in getting trucking quotes.
Should we be looking to purchase from a breaker or a broker? We would prefer dealing with a small company with personal service over one of the large companies. Top quality coal is preferred over cheapest price. Any insights and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Buying a TT load and having it trucked to a single location in your area will be the most cost effective, but you will need a way to split it up and haul it to each house. If a few of you don't mind going for a ride, a small trailer load might be a good way to see what you think of the coal before committing to a large amount.
