yea...burning bagged Rice.... and seems not matter which mine TSC get's their coal from all 9 tons or more I've used these past 2 yrs have been excellent except for the woven poly bag's which now as you know they've switched from.

I would say it (TSC) is better coal in regards to all things being equal with Santa's but what puts it into the "better" is much less fines.. if that's good... one less thing to empty and tend often I guess. The much less price I pay for TSC is all gravy to me..

My biggest complaint with TSC is they frequently have no nut in stock. Twice I have had to go further than my local store to pick some up. My local store has not had nut since early February. It's not like a pallet of coal takes up much space. There is a lot of fines in the coal, but it all burns. Given the choice I prefer less fines. I think next season I will buy 2 ton bagged from another supplier. It's a 60 mile round trip instead of 20 for TSC. The price at TSC beats every other option I have.

I have not asked them. I assume they would. I know I am not their only costumer and am annoyed they run out. I will buy 1 or 2 tons for next season. The coal from the place that is 60 miles round trip is very good. Properly sized and cleaned. It's a dollar a bag more though.

Your annoyed ? So you'll drive many more miles and spend more money for coal... $1 more a bag?? with my use of over 6 ton a season that wouldn't do....Can't see it... TSC can't be that bad.. Never bought their Nut but can't imagine it being that bad...According to other posts here TSC has ordered more and actually called other stores for me to see what they have left.. (end of season price drop time) .. They are a box store and I don't expect them to stock coal year round... This is why I order when there summer flyer comes around to my mail box with the preorder special for coal or pellets and order 6 ton.. they get it in Sept and load me up any day of the week or time of day.

I don't think it's a stretch to think they should stock coal in February. There is no coal in any stores near me now. They had coal last August that was probably left over from the previous winter. Why not do it this year? The price is very good. The Kimmels coal was good quality. Whatever they use now has lots of fines and is sized small, but as I said earlier, it burns well.
I started burning coal again this season because TSC is close by and they had coal. I drive by the store on a regular basis and figured I could stop in and pick up some as needed. My original intention was not to store much at my house. Now I am thinking I will need to store more at my house or be at the whim of TSC.
I believe there is little to no savings for me to burn coal now, so I consider it entertainment for myself. I just need to decide how much I want to spend on entertainment.

Yes, get it early! Its really hit and miss with the TSC stores. Some will order for you and some will not. I was told last summer that my closest store was not ever getting it again and I could not order it there but was told which stores were getting it and went there. Yet they had a pallet there this spring anyway. I think what it boils down too is buy it if you can, but don't trust it to be there in the winter... stock up early to be sure. That gives the bags time to dry out too, then nobody has to come here to complain about getting wet/damp coal when they buy it in december.... Ive read 100 posts about wet coal on this board.

I recently purchased 6 tons of TSC coal for future burning. Got it for $215/ton, I must pick-up at store. Went out in their yard to look at the covered pallets. There was a purchase order in one of the 6 pallets that read: Supplier :
READING ANTHRACITE
302 Morea Road
Frackville, PA 17931
Item Description: Item # 1100816
UPC Code 810904020550

The mystery of the TSC coal for this year is solved!

The coal was in stock, left over from the winter. They do not want to "dust" this merchandise for another year, so I told them I would take the balance of their rice coal if I could get it for $205/ton. That is what I paid last year at this time. They came back with $215/ton. With their rewards program, I actually got it for $208.33/ton.

I have to call their Cortland, New York store to see if they have any rice coal left as I have 10 bags left and its shorter to go to Cortland than to Owego.
