Very wet and this was under cover too, rep got back to me last night says this is very sub standard told me to contact my supplier and show him the pics and tell them I had been in contact with reading and to credit me replacement bags. I don't know if I will have time this weekend to try but ill see what happens.

I was just informed by the Reading rep I've been corresponding with about the four pallets of substandard coal I purchased last year (2015). The company is going to replace all four pallets with my local dealer this year. I can hardly believe it. That is not an insignificant amount of $$$ I'm not going to have to spend on coal this year. I have to take my hat off to the company and representative who handled my case. They were very professional throughout the process. I made sure I did the same, and had everything documented, and above all, I remained polite and civil during all conversations. :D I will go on record as saying that Reading stood by their product in this case, and replaced what was really bad coal.

Dennis

Very happy that you got a resolution from Reading on their nasty coal. Consider yourself lucky. The company never responded to my complaints which pretty much mirrored your issues.

Clean, dry, and serviceable .... that's what I demand as it is what it should be. No need for a contract for those requirements.

I'm almost always civil, hardly ever criminal.....

Nice you are satisfied ...

I had the same problem last year. I traded what I had left for rice. I'm not been buying their chestnut anymore. I broke a grate because of the sizing issues. Lots of frustration.

I'm glad things worked out for you. That's great customer service.

I tried to burn Reading my second year with coal. It all looked just like the picture posted. What a fiasco. Fortunately, it was my second year so I had something to judge it by the next year. I've been driving 20 miles further to get Santa coal ever since. The savings in gas and time just isn't worth the frustration over the winter. Lisa

I think reading nut is awfully. I sell it and can't tell people to by it. And I burn nut in a chubby.

The coal is good, just the processing is bad.

The dealer I buy from privately processes and bags the coal. Bone dry and no dust or fines.

I just got a pallet of TSC nut coal that looks just like that. Wet clumps of fines and dust with a bunch of rice and pea. Its pretty frustrating having two suppliers in my area TSC and a local place with bagged reading. Same crapshoot quality.

Well to be honest. We started selling Lehigh much better. Hope reading gets the hint. Maybe had a bad batch. But that hurts the company.( you know profits that's what we all live on).

Unfortunately Reading seems to be the cheapest for my local shops to carry. Captive market, we don't have many options in this area.
