I just started burning the Lehigh rice I got this fall. I am completely satisfied so far. No fines little ash, and a real good burn. I would recomend it to anyone.

How do you like burning rice compared to buck in the 700?

The rice is better than the buck as far as ash ring. lehigh is hotter than the lenigs was.

Could you please clarify what you mean by that? You should be able to adjust with any coal to get the right ash ring.

If you need to push the unit hard, you may find that you get the best high-end output using buck due to the better air flow. That was my experience using an S-30 stoker.

You are. I buy it by the TL and it has been consistently good stuff for a fair price.

I think Fastenal charges a $150 minimum, so that may not help the math.

I'm trying to convince my local supplier to switch from Santa to Lehigh, from Eric K. @ Coopersburg Bagging :?

The lenigs buck I was burning would not keep a ash ring all the way around. It burned fine and made heat. The rice from lehigh keeps a consistant ash ring, it burns hotter at the same settings, and produces less ash.

My $0.02 would be that Lehigh buck will give you better high-end performance than Lehigh rice under heavy load conditions. If you don't run it hard it probably doesn't matter (and the rice might hold the fire better than the buck if you run it in the summer for DHW). One other factor to consider is that buck sometimes is cheaper.

I do run it all summer. The rice seems to be working fine so far. I burned Lenigs for 2 years and never had any issues with it. I had a truck in the Tamaqua area needing a back haul, so I got the lehigh. Another thing I have noticed is the auger is much less noise when running. I guess the first real cold weather will tell. I am not running Lenigs down their coal was good and they are good to deal with. I gave $150/ton for the Lehigh and $150/ton for the Lenigs Buck. Price was not an issue to me. I do like the fact that I have less ash to haul.

all.......I live in N Central CT, and have operated a Franco Belge coal stove for 25 years now. Lately, there has been little really good anthracite available in this region ( Kimmel has been NG, as has Santa. ). Unfortunately, my Franco likes nothing but the best, so I have struggled. I think this is due to the overall stove design, specifically the grate spacing ( about 1/4 " ), which clogs easily. I think Tractor Supply has something new this year, but not in pea coal.

I've heard good things about Lehigh in this forum , but there are no Lehigh dealers in this area. I'm seriously considering going to the Willkes Barre/Scranton/Mountaintop Pa area to get some Lehigh. Can anyone tell me which dealers in that area handle Lehigh ????? Does anyone know of Lehigh dealers along I-84 , East of this area ?????

Thoughts ?????/ Thanks for any help out there. Am tired of trying to burn rock& dirt, disguised as anthracite.
