I think they are just an agency and get coal from wherever. I was told by a Bullville NY coal dealer that his coal came from Centralia and that was the worst crap I ever burned. Perhaps he was lying.

Thread resurrection time.
I agree! Got a ton a few weeks ago. Going through it way too fast and double the ash of the Reading I was using. Having trouble with it in the outdoor boiler and can't get more than an 8 hour burn in the Crane. Grrr...

That address still sells coal as you say from nearby, but the UAE coal was from a now closed deep mine...stripped coal is what is provided by the new owners at that closed mine location...don't know anything about their now provided coal however...

Have you let the folks at Centralia know about this? They can't fix what they don't know.

Don't even know who they are. I got this from a local bulk supplier. Asked him what it was, he said "Centralia". I will inform the local supplier that it was sub par next time I get a load of Reading from him.

i burned that coal until i moved in spring 2017. i liked it. i lived a mile away from the sherman breaker but preferred to drive over there for coal. got my little truck stuck too many times at the wet breakers.

Yup.

From their website: "As the exclusive sales agent for the leading producers of Anthracite, Centralia is the single clearinghouse for the uninterrupted delivery of the full range of Anthracite grades and sizes."

Learned my lesson, research before I buy...

Centralia sells a lot of coal, and a lot of people are very happy with it. I would not write them off due to one bad experience, especially if the exact source of the coal can't be confirmed.

Our newly found dealer (Holt Haines and CO.) supplied us with Centralia nut coal this year and it burns very well in our Harman TLC2000. We've burned Blaschak and TSC (Kimmels, Miners Choice) in the past and the "Centralia" is the best with burn, less ash and lights well. I don't know which Centralia mine is used, but we like it.
As a newb in coal I am wondering if coal stoves are like shotgun barrels - each one is particular to a specific load for accuracy
