I just passed the Glen Burn (old Harmony) outside Mt. Carmel. They have a big sign hanging on the fence saying bagged coal $5.50. I don't know how much they weigh, but I do know they have a lot of pallets setting there.

Pass by there again, take a closer look. $5.50 a bag is a good price for a 50 lb bag.

David, I pass by there all the time and the sign can't be missed. It is printed on a banner that is about 4x8. Like I said I don't know how much a bag weighs. Next time I go by I will take a picture and post it.
That works out to $275 a ton. They sell the exact same coal in bulk for $170 a ton. I saved my bags from when I was given a ton of bagged coal. I just refilled 7 of them about 3/4 way each and it came to 320 pounds. I only filled em 3/4 because they were easier to pick up. This 64 year old back just ain't what it used to be!!!!

Is the 64 yr old calculator miscalculating ? There are 40 bags per ton of the 50# bags....40 x $5.50/bag = $220/ton
Carry the two, multiply by 3.147568, factor in the humidity, cold front from Canada, warm front from the Gulf of Mexico, coupled with a Noreaster, yep the calculator miscalculated. Still the bagged is more expensive and it's exactly the same coal.
At least I got that part right....

He has a superior mathematical mind,i can't keep up with those kind of calculations.Starting Out wrote:Windyhill thanks for keeping the mind of the 64 yr old Reverand thinking. If his back goes out at least he will have a good strong mind.
