Coal Quality From Various Sources
I have Kimmels now is this good stuff? The bags I had before was blascpak or how ever you spell it
it seems to me kimmels is burning hotter than the blaschpak
That's good. I was very nervous when I was purchasing my 22.5 tons this summer. It would have been real bad to get caught with that much bad coal. I figured that the worst case scenario is that I would sell it and make a profit. I wish I had some Superior to compare it to since that seems to be a benchmark coal.
I've tried both Blashak and Kimmels with about the same result. I haven't seen enough difference to justify spending an extra $45 a ton for the Kimmels. The Blashak leaves a nice tan colored ash where the Kimmels is more brown in color and not as fine.
I am thoroughly pleased with the heat output and limited ash from my recent coal from Hudson. Would reccommend anyone in scranton area to consider this breaker. I have Superior coal as well, and the Hudson is just as good from what I can tell. outside temp is 20, my house is 81. burning a gibraltar with no blower, heating 2700 sq ft.

Just called Hudson, it's $150 a ton picked up.

Be sure to call ahead of time especially if you are getting rice, they are opened on Saturdays.
You're best bet is to show up on about Thursday early in the morning if the rice is low.

I live in the pocono's right outside of Scranton. Does anyone know where I can buy some good bagged coal. The first bagged I use seemed to be very dusty and dry.Today I opened a bag of Blascheck and it seemed to be a little damp. not as dry as the other. I am new to all this and have only been burning coal for abount a month. Thanks.
