A well placed grain auger would make quick work of that pile
and a pizza party with good grog and designated drivers would
solve the bagged coal in the basement problem too I bet.

Why would one pay the same money per ton to have to work that hard ? Go to LEHIGH& pay the same money for them to load you. Where is the incentive to work so hard getting an un-officially determined amount of coal like that ? weeds & dirt,blue tarp mixed in,that is all ingredients for maybe $80/ton.

True, however no grain auger access, and still a lot of hand work to feed an auger or conveyor. Also, lots of friends required to handle the basement bagged coal. All wonderful ideas, just not too likely.
When'WORK' is involved and no compensation, the 'volunteer list' diminishes quickly. Windyhill says the same thing. This is not an easy adventure. I might guess you have not hand loaded bags, containers, supersacks before.......and then had to load them, and transport them, unload them, store them.......and go back and do it all over again and again. If you owned the excavation equipment and trucks it would still be a lot of work. If you lived next door and burned pea, it would still be a lot of work to save only a little money......

Understand not all of us pay 320 a ton for bagged coal. That as Windyhill says makes his logic much more sensible.

After looking at that pile of 'black gold' for 5 minutes, I came to the conclusion that it will take a HUGE vacuum machine to move that coal. They got a truck in there to dump it, soooo, should be able to get a truck close enough to load. $3200 is high end. Unless a 'political generated shortage' occurs, I think it will be there awhile.

Hold the phone, before you rush off there come over to my farm first. I have 2 tons of nut coal in the back for only $100 a ton. I tested it at Ash 27% and the BTU content is barely measurable. Funny thing is it looks just like coal but acts a like pile of limestone. All potential suckers should line up at my gate for that deal first.

NOTE TO SELF: All coal is not created equally.

The pile looks exactly like it was dumped by a
TT or tri axle dump body on the tarp.

Traveling to NH is closer than to Lehigh for me

An open field like that makes me seriously wonder
why there is no access considering the shape of
the pile.

A borrowed or rented burial vault trailer used to winch up
loads of bags would work well as they are self propelled
and can move the loads of bags on the vault trailer too.

I used to bag salt for a living so its not an issue.

As I will be burning rice coal I could only sell it.

One retailer has been selling Blashack pea every winter
for 8 dollars a forty pound bag and as its on a high
traffic count area it all sells it would be great way
to get rid of the bagged product as it was weighed with a
certified scale and baging plant.

There is more to this picture than is explained and I believe this CL
advert has been out there for a couple years now.

The bagged coal would be the easy part, the loose coal on a tarp is the deal killer, especially where the ad says the buyer must take all.

it might not be the best of deals, but in any event, I shared it because someone here may be interested. Someone with the right kind of gear to load it. Someone who can smooth talk a better deal than $3200.
