Like I've posted.. have had excellent Coal rice from TSC for the last 3 seasons.. 1st season only thing wrong was the bags.. they cleared that up with nice plastic bags. Better then Blazchak ones. And no fines at all..amazing.. I thought it would bad or worse coal then Blazchak which I burnt for 10 seasons here. But it's better all around then Blazchak.. well see for the 2018 2019 season. On a side note I burn 7 ton a year.

Few years back use to buy a large ton, one complete pallet which was 2400 lbs. There were 60 bags to a pallet, but no more .

Yes, $60 less. my Blaschak was 310/ton last year. Not sure what it will be this year but it usually goes up $5 a year. I did burn a bag of my load of TSC and it was about like last year. I could use propane at the same cost or a little less but its just not the same heat wise. I like having a warm spot in the house.

Needed more coal, but I've been putting off getting another bulk delivery so I could empty my bins to clean out the fines accumulation. So there's always bagged, right ? Well, my local dealer is sold out of Leigh nut and won't be ordering until August.

Then I noticed on TSC's website that their price has come down $1.00 per bag to $5.29. That's $264.50 per ton - about what I pay for bulk with local dealer. So, I figured that's worth trying.

Since I drive right by on my weekly errands, yesterday I picked up a few bags of nut to try. So far, the bags are better than when they had Kimmels. Coal is wet enough that there's no dust while pouring out of the bag, and no puddles in the bottom of the bags, like I had when I tried Blaschak. Or to leak out through the stiches and make a mess like with the Kimmels.

Hardly any fines and sizing is more consistent. Seems to burn well, good heat output, and lasts well overnight. But it sure does snap a lot when refueling. Waiting to compare how much ash it has. So far not much.

Hope you continue to find more bags to be consistent with those bag(s). ;)

My Reading pea coal supplier sold out a month ago so I bought 20 or so bags of 'nut from TSC. I had 1 bag 25% fines but the rest was like Paul stated. Sounded like Rice Krispies when added

I'm going to open the other bags this afternoon and transfer them to 5 gal pails - easier to shovel out of. I'll post back what I find.

We typically run the range until sometime in June. Our nights get chilly and the range is enough to keep the chill out of the whole house. Plus, coal is far cheaper to cook with here than pro-pain for the gas stove. If the TSC nut stays this consistent, I'll pick up more.

All in all of what Ive burned, 1 in 5 bags has an a lot of fines but it still burns. Im going to mix most of my TSC in with my Blaschak this year in a bin, kind of blend it together to be more consistent.

And yes, it sounds like rice crispies :)
