My local store is selling nut for 5.29 per bag, seems to be a discount because the season is coming to a quick end

We buy a lot of horse stuff there and apparently the 10% or 15% coupons go to those that spend according to a long time store worker in Chester here. The season is not ending here and it would appear and the sale is on.

I just wish I could depend on the quality. Nothing is more aggravating than poor quality coal. They sell a lot of pellets here but as usual do not have a clue about coal. They sell to little and could care less. We will burn 20 tons this year at this rate and it all gets moved around by Homer buckets. I depend on totally getting the best stuff and for me it ends up being cheaper. As my street spins into outer space with solar I spin more and more towards coal. One of us is nuts.

I don't sense I am getting an endorsement of TSC coal. Shame.

If they sold Lehigh I'd totally be onboard. I buy bulk but have in the past, like just last week, bought bagged coal. The last thing I want is some crappy coal with foreign matter and over or undersized coal. Maybe Matt at Lehigh can talk to corporate TSC and get them onboard!

Idk how much the coal varies from store to store, but I bought like 20bags last year to start the season and it burned fine for me. It was a little more volitile than the Lehigh so I needed to make adjustments and back off the fees for the Lehigh when I made the switch. With the 10% off coupon it would be worth a shot, you may even be able to talk the manager into knocking a few points off if you take rest.

15% off is a given, perhaps more if you clean them out. I bet I could clean out the Chester store and not notice the difference in my inventory. This is not coal country. I am to scared to inherit a few tons of c rap coal now that really would be expensive. I guess I will never know. I suppose I should buy bag of say nut. Sunny will eat anything and lay it out and put a bucket of Direnzo beside it. Then see how it burns. Then offer $4 a bag to clear them out. Let me think about that one.

It has been Reading Coal.

And reviews don't mean ship w/o listing whether it is rice or nut coal.

I gather that the rice is good and the nut is c rap.
My results are that the Nut burns alright it's just that sizing is wide...dust up through stove sizes mixed and with too much nonburnable bigger pieces of slate.

Yes Reading. Some of what I burned is about as good as Ive had and some of it is not very good. Hit and miss, bag to bag. I did get some yesterday because of the sale $60/ton less than my Blaschak makes it worth my time and fuss. No way would I pay full price.

That would be...NUT size, right?

My Blaschak dealer said two years ago he was afraid TSC would put him out of business. Then where would I get reliably-decent coal? So far he said he hasn't been hurt too much. I think that is partially because TSC, here anyway, is so unreliable about even having coal in stock. $60/ton is a lot, but not a killer for somebody like me that burns less than 3 tons. So I will keep my business with my Blaschak guy.

I think you nailed the key word, reliability. Not keeping it in stock and not being consistant bag to bag, both being reliability. i dont count on them but when the sales happen I get some if its there. I still get blaschak from a dealer too.
