I have been using Austin Carter for my coal for a couple years and have been very happy with his service and prices. Now that he is no longer doing this, I need a new supplier for my coal. My unloading situation is a little unique and a dump trailer ( Brimar or equivalent) is required to back into a garage bay and unload into a wall mounted chute. I am looking for at least 4 tons of blashak rice delivered to Harleysville PA, 19438 in the next week or two. My other option is to dump onto my paved drive and shuttle the coal by hand, but I am trying to avoid that.
I would also be interested in renting a dump trailer if someone on this board has one. I have a capable tow vehicle.

Ziggy,have you tried Lutz,s coal in skippack Pa.,they have chute that will go close to 20 feet.They carry Blashack coal

Dennis, the problem with a garage especially if the hole is at the back of the garage is you can't get enough pitch and it won't run down the chute.

Ziggy, if you post some pictures I may be able to offer some suggestions.

Richard,when Lutz were at my house for a delivery,my coal door is about3-1/2 foot off the ground and16' off the driveway.They stayed on the drive and extended their chute 5' into the bin and the truck bed/chute was approx. 5' off the ground,only took 10 minutes to unload.And your right,he should ask and take pics.for the delivery person to make their own judment.

Based on those rough measurements I'd venture to guess you were getting the stove? Stove will chute on almost any pitch, the smaller it gets the more pitch you need. For rice you're looking at about 35 to 40 degrees unless you have ideal conditions like super clean coal and it's summer. I've gone to dozen of houses with the bin like he's describing and it's really hit and miss with the larger coal... more miss. Of course the door opening makes a big difference too.

Ok, I'm excited! If I had your auger system, I could have the truck dump my coal into a chute right next to the front door, to an auger that would run through a crawl space into the main basement right next to the boiler. Where did you get that auger, how long is it and dare I ask, how much did it cost? Don't be shy, I know they can be expensive.

In this picture is the door to the very right inside or outside? And if outside could a truck back up to it? If so someone should be able to get in there with a high lift. I know could probably get in there with a high lift. Note I don't deliver anymore... Any windows to the left a truck can back up too?

Other that that unless you find someone with trailer or consider reconfiguring it the only other option is wheel barrowing it. That's not too bad in garage because what you do is set the chute up on small ladder or whatever, that will get it half way there. At least it's in the garage and easy to clean up. I've done that for few customers but they always helped, it's not something I would do on my own and if I had too the price was going up. 2 ton and a 10 foot walk to the hole took about 1/2 an hour if I were to guess.

When we renovated this new house the first thing that was considered was where the coal bin was going, note I said coal bin and not the boiler. Since you are beyond that I'd be looking at putting a window here next to the bin if that is possible.:

That door goes to the back porch which is elevated and not accessible because of a patio and other landscaping obstacles as well as no driveway access. Bummer.

I paid about 400 for the 4" x 17' model and had it truck shipped for about $150 for a total of about $650. I already had a 1 HP cent. start motor so I was able to save there. I got several local quotes on similar augers and all were much higher even without shipping. I'm very happy with it's performance.

Even with my current Rube Goldberg transfer setup, I can move 4 tons in a little over an hour.

TP Trailers in Limerick rents dump trailers. They also sell them.

Perhaps you could rent a trailer and drive to Lutz and get a bulk order. Or if wanting to drive, take the trailer direct to the breaker.
