Reading has gotten a lot of mixed reviews on the forum over the years. What I have seen of their product most recently has been good. Just got a pallet of their nut coal last week and it looks/burns good. A neighbor of mine got 5 tons of their rice a few weeks ago and it looks/burns very well.

Yeah, I 'm burning Reading "bulk" pea that I hauled back home from last June's meet n greet.
All in all I am pleased burning it in a AA stoker. I've had some coals before w/ a little less ash, but this isn't bad. :D

I have also tried reading rice coal. It burned good for me but it does seam to make much more ash than I have been used to. Since UAE is gone I have also been looking for a new place to get coal since I didn't care for the mallard coal either. I have tried mammoth materials, sherman and now direnzo coal and I have to say I like the direnzo coal the best. I have only burned 1 ton but it gave out good heat and low ash. It's similar in quality to the old UAE in heat output with slightly more ash but it is much cleaner. If anyone has any other suggestions of places to get high quality coal please let me know.

Search "Direnzo"
They have very good coal at the moment.

I have burned Reading for last six years since getting a EFM 520. I have a large home and burn on average 16 ton a year. I just switched to Direnzo coal and wish I switched sooner. Direnzo coal is much cleaner with much less fines in coal. Ash buckets are much lighter with Direnzo . Ash from reading had what looked like slate in ash. Also coal size on some loads of Reading looked undersize.

I burn keystone on a regular basis mostly since they are less than a minutes from the house. I'm not sure where they are getting it but I noticed a difference when it hit the grates. It burns hotter than the old UAE site Glen Burn that I had been burning. I had to back off the feed a turn because the house was getting too warm. I'll take a trip over to the Atlas site in Atlas of course to see how that does. I think the Reading bulk coal is good but it's a pain to get to up on their hill. Gotta walk in the mud and muck and the car gets disgustingly dirty. I buy by the bucket usually 8-9 five gallon buckets when I go.

I like to have options.

Well I called a new delivery guy today. and got some interesting info.
He has never delivered anything from Atlas and had not good or bad to say about it told me if thats where I wanted it from them he'd get it for me but then proceeded to tell me he has been getting his coal from the original Helfrick plant in Mid Valley that would be the mountain north of town at the top of the hill.
He told me it is NOT the same Helfrick Coal being sold at Harmony it appears the Harmony is processing the coal on site and buying unprepared bulk from Helfrick and as all Harmony Coal was it is filthy and full a fines. The Coal from The Mid Valley Helfrick as pictured is supposed to be clean and strong burning,, we'll see I got 2 ton coming tomorrow.

Lewis are the prices the same for Mid Valley and Harmony? They are both owned by Helfrick as far as I know.

Not sure of the Harmony price or Mid Valley price, plus I'm getting a delivery guy markup. The Delivery guy claims they are separate operations ??
