Did you get the loads from your regular dealer or have you bounced around looking for that BETTER deal every year?

Well hindsight is always 20-20 but I probably would not have bought 2 tractor trailer loads of coal I had not tried before. That was a bold move.

Gosh.... Was it cheaper in price than than any other coal? If so, maybe you don't have much room to complain, but, if you paid a "normal" price and did not get "normal coal" I'd be having a talk with the seller. In this type of circumstance if I feel I have a solid leg to stand on, I remain calm, don't raise my voice, but firmly & politely describe the problem & let them understand that either they make a satisfying decision, or you will see to it that a man in a black robe will make a decision for the both of you. Best of luck in whatever occurs.

Uhh,Somebody's got some Splainin' to do. The price change on delivery on that big of a purchase is for starters. The quality being poor seals a deal gone sour. I'd be following Freddy's voice of reason, and go from there. I'm not going to kick 'ya while your down, but I can say that this will never happen to you again ! Good Luck with getting this to a more fair outcome for yourself. Keep us posted. By the way, what mine did this drivel come from? Bags marked ? :gee:

Coal is a natural mineral resource I think you have no recourse as performance isn't stated or guaranteed. It does burn that's what coal does.

I used to get very little warning for the price change at the breaker in the Fall, as in days and I could have weeks worth of work. When it used to get around that time of the year I'd give them a price and explain it may go up before I got there when they were ordering it. If it went up when I called to set up delivery I'd give them the new price.

Most understood after I explained and for those that gave me hard time I just charge them extra next year if they ordered around that time.

The guy delivering the coal is not making a lot of money and if there is $5 or $10 difference per ton in what they are paying for it that is significant.

Every load of bagged coal I have purchased was invoiced prior to delivery. As for the coal not being good, it is possible that the bagging company just got a bad load on their end. Ash content isn't something they would be able to notice....but you would hope they would see excessive fines and water.

Just so it's clear Rob I never showed up at someone's door with a bill higher than they expected.
