The reading (bagged-rice) has looked and burned good. No sticks or rocks. Only complaint is some bags have a lot of water in them. I would like to try other brands, but my options living in sw Pa. are limited.

Will report on the quality in about a week.

The name "Glen Burn" brings back a lot of memories for folks who have grown up and old here my grandfather was a deep miner at the original Glen Burn colliery. The fact they use that name makes me wonder if the Helfricks are involved they we're know as Kerris & Helfrick back in the 60's and 70's and were one of the largest strip miners around. But anyway look forward to the burn report. I do and don't miss UAE the ash content was a dream in the stokers but was never to crazy about its low volatility in a hand fired stove with marginal draft we run in a workshop. The majority of the last 20+ years burning coal has been white ash. I also hated the amount of dust and fines the Harmony coal contained they never really had a breaker/washery. So the coal sold there isn't prepped there most likely,, I've heard the name Mallard associated with them too that could be coming out of the old Savitski breaker site in Atlas Pa. a few miles away there was a lot of local politics involved with getting it all established local residents didn't want it.

Yes, the low ash content was very nice in my boiler. The guy who operated the skid steer said he is very happy with the coal. We'll see.

Lewis, The breaker in Atlas is not associated with the new Harmony. That is owned by Molesevich I believe. The coal at Harmony is run through the breaker at Mallard Contracting going towards Wilburton and hauled over to Harmony.

Didn't Glen Burn dye their coal blue and call it blue diamond coal? That way you knew what you were buying.

No Glen Burn did not sell under the Blue Coal marketing. They did however way way back in the day scatter the lil red paper buttons with their logo made of paper thruout the load.

Blue coal was marketed by the Glen Alden Coal Co.

Thumbs up on this load of coal from Glen Burn-Harmony. Burns nice and hot in the stoker, white ash. It does produce more ash then the UAE Harmony did, but I expected that.
Did not find any wood or other debris in it.

Anybody ever burn the old Savitski coal? How about the Molesevich?

Glad to hear that. I spent a few hours today shoveling 7000# of their rice coal. Found a few very small pieces of wood and a few pieces of what looks like gravel but otherwise looks good. Will be burning it in a day or two.

Old Savitski coal was great. They been gone many a years now. Molesevich bought the breaker rebuilt it a sells out of there now. A friend in Mt. Carmel burns it and likes he prefers it to the nu Glen Burn ?

Keep posting the Glen burn results they are close and cheap from what I hear.

Did you or anybody you know try the Black Diamond Coal in Atlas. The old Great Eastern between Coles and the Car Wash. My neighbor is using it and likes it. Only $140 a ton. I tried a ton of Atlas Anthracite old Savitski last year lots of twigs and dirty.
