You'll NOT pay any sales tax at PA for your coal.
Bagged prolly has no price advantage there, but bulk prolly does.

740-343-0195 is the # to the scale house. Last time I was there the pile was mostly chunks the size of walnuts if you can use that size. Could load with a shovel right out of the pile and get 90% that size.

This is in Amish Country, Kurtz Coal is Amish coal dealer, coal yard is operated by English folks (trucking and hauling outfit) which answer phone messages, load, operate scales and do all the deliveries.

I'll ask for coal source...most times no one can answer this. They do sell Blaschak's bagged.

Their info has been posted here several times before.

Got a ton of pea and it looks a little on the small side (buckwheat)

AA's like buckwheat, so it' all good.

They were all out of bagged and the bulk bins were looking thin.
I noticed some iron spottings on this coal so it may be red ash...will see when I get some loaded and burned. I prefer red ash anyway.

I got a ton of bulk rice yesterday from Delagrange, an Amish guy about six miles from Rt.6 into Pa. it's $250/ton for bulk Blaschak but rice was the only bulk he had. He has bagged Blaschak in all sizes but I didn't ask price, no tax in Pa.

Jr is limiting his bagged to only 20 bags. That load arrived on tue morning, he was out before that. I payed $5.60 a bag.

pyma, I went there yesterday (Friday) & got 50 bags, I even asked if he wanted me to take less since (hopefully) we will have less winter than I have coal. He did say he was expecting more stove but doesn't know when. I didn't ask about the prebagged but did help him load a dozen on a elderly mans (more elderly than I) truck & he took a mix of pea (I think) & stove. :?
The bulk rice was clear out to the end of his bin. I got it for $245/ton since I had my own bags.

I don't think he was limiting his bulk. Only the bagged. I was there on thursday, he called me tuesday night to say he had a load. He sells a skid for $325 when he is not limiting the bags. I use the bulk nut, but he was out in about mid jan. I know schwartz country store was out for a few days and heard cherry vally was out for a while also.
