Had bulk coal delivered outside and once when shoveling, found a ringneck snake at the bottom.

I find snakes in my coal on a regular basis. I store my bulk coal outside and snakes love to crawl inside the pile when it gets cool in the Fall. In winter I often find snakes in the coal that never made it out to a den before winter. I just move them somewhere cool and they are gone come spring. The larger coal sizes like stove coal are prefered by the snakes.

Sounds like a bunch of city folks to me, drop the snakes off here if you like. Unlike you FF I,ve seen my normal amount of snakes, got plenty of bagworms & even seen a type of salamander or lizard that I've never seen before, kind of a cute little guy Anything that eats insects or mice is a friend IMO.

We have a 3 ft long Black American Racer living amongst the stack of bagged coal I have out back. DK appropriately named it "Jessie." Jessie does a good job taking care of the chipmonks so I'll let him stay as long as he wants. Lisa

All these years and listening to Smitty talking about wrestling with the snake.....I am blown away. It was faaaaaar from what I was thinkin'. He must have a damned reptilian zoo out there in God's Country...... Actually I think it keeps his mind sharp because he 'loves the 'Snakes' in the 'State House' and they are a slippery as any snake alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek2: :bang: :mad3:

All this snake talk is causing something to get ready to rear its ugly head around here.Just this past Saturday while weed wacking around the wood pile I weed wacked over this shedded snake skin.1 1/2 inches wide and about 18 or so inches long.Instant hair raising all over me.If you could have seen me after finding that thing trying to finish the job standing on my tippy toes, weed wacker stretched as far out as I could hold it and fully expecting something to "fang into"me at any moment.I guess I saw too many Tarzan and Jungle Jim movies when I was a kid but one thing is for certain, I hate snakes more than even I thought I did. Mike p.s.the whole wood pile might be for sale soon, all of it for one money as they say
