What's the Price for 1 Ton of Coal in Your Area? 2013-14

I'm paying $209/ton picked up. I've been filling grain bags and they've been working great.

They also deliver and charge $55 delivery fee on any amount up to 4 tons.

I've got about 1500# so far and it's all been burning nicely. Consistent size, a piece of wood every few bags.

With that being said, I purchased from Rella over in Medford and have to say it was an extremely pleasant experience. This was my first time getting coal delivered, last year was my first year burning coal and I burned what the previous home owner had stocked in the coal bin, so I wasn't sure what the "deal" was. I called the office, got a price, made an appointment for delivery, truck showed up on time, delivery was super smooth, rec'd a small discount for paying cash. I now have 2.5 tons in the bin, another half ton in a few garbage cans, about a ton of nut coal for mixing in, it's all good!

Just a quick note on delivery - my coal bin is up against a fence along my property line. The only way to access it is drive across the lawn, drive up the neighbor's driveway and fill the bin from over the fence, or dump it on the driveway and wheel barrow it all to the bin (no thanks). I wasn't sure what the truck was capable of, so I was a bit nervous for my first delivery. My neighbor next door was awesome and allowed the coal truck to drive up their driveway, coal truck lifted the bed a solid 6 feet up and over the fence with an awesome hydraulic system, then angled the shoot so the coal ran straight into my bin. The truck was in an out in about 15 mins max, a real smooth delivery (Thanks Jonathan).

Will def. be using Rella again next year, I've been burning for a few weeks now happy to report that everyone is roasty toasty warm. Stay warm!

find out what kind of beer ur neighbor drinks and get him a case, saved u a lot of work, and will in the future too.

Another late reply from south-central western Pa. Prices from today and yesterday.

Hunts Hardware in Clintonville, on I80 exit 29 (29 miles east of Ohio) has Reading Coal pallet of 40lb bags for $290 picked up. Individual 40 lb. bags are 6.49. I do not know if the pallet is 2000 or 2400 lb.

McClymonds Supply and Transit on 422 just east of I79 (near Portersville) has Reading nut coal for $265 per ton bulk picked up, or $310 per ton bagged. One 50lb bag is $8.

We have been sitting at $250 a ton delivered bulk. There are 2 bulk suppliers locally that I use and both are within $5 of each other.

I but anthracite rice coal by the ton, bagged, 50# bags for $290 / ton. That is in Altmar NY. This guy wont deliver up here in Carthage NY because it is a long drive unless I can get more people to buy from him and make it worth his time. He is however the cheapest in my area. If anyone is from this area and want his info reply and I will post it.

Just looked at the mines page...its $28 a ton for stoker and $31 for lump, 7200 BTU per lb. I think that's fresh from the mine and it increases a bit in BTU as it dries on the surface. They have an old comparison page that says $25 a ton is $1.29 per million btus, but the current prices are a tad higher.

I am paying $325.00 a ton for bagged Blaschak, but I buy it by the pallet $390.00. It has been the same price for 3 years. Might be able to find it a little cheaper some where else, but this is only 4 miles from my house. With diesel $3.90 a gallon driving to far eats up most of the saving.
