From what I saw of my dads ash, it has a bit of redish tint to it, but more grey.

no. it's some other company now, i think it's glen burn now. i like their coal. i never had a bad batch from there no matter who owned it.
i burned some last winter and winters before that, i preferred it over direnzo , reading, superior and sherman. makes good heat, nice ash. i got decent mileage.

it was cheaper than sherman and superior and reading (reading anthrawood) i bought direnzo once and it wouldn't burn worth a crap, i never burned it again. i used to live next to the hegins breaker, that coal sucked in a stoker too......the nut coal was excellent tho??
i also prefer the breaker in mount carmel because they load dry with a bobcat. i got my toyota stuck at a few other breakers.

Lincoln, good to know, thanks!

Yeah, the dry part is what I’m after. I’m very happy with Direnzo and their pricing, but had a load freeze solid during the ~2 hour drive home last year. With this weeks temperatures, I know it’ll happen again.

I’m after pea or nut, can use either. Have an old hand fired warm air furnace...

Appreciate the info!

there is still water in it.....not near as much tho......they wash it in bulk at the breaker then truck it into the terminal......they have huge concrete bins there, and they load the pickups with a bobcat that has a 500 pound scoop. they are real good about loading.

Cool, thanks. Guess as long as the water is already frozen before loading, it isn’t a big deal. Mostly was an issue when loaded wet, then froze into a block lol.

Thanks,

Joe

The only thing that is the same is the scale house and bins
UAE was a deep mine the mine was behind scale house
in mountain entrance on top of mountain lykens # 2 vein red ash
Mallard Contracting Co. / Glenn burn is a surface mining coal co. / strip mining
white veins west end of Mount Carmel apple to oranges

Actually their mining operation is east of Mt. Carmel and northeast of the scale house between route 61 coming from Centralia and the Wilburton mountain to the north which is known locally as Morris Ridge. Their breaker is directly to the north of the scale house. The company that purchased Blaschak is also mining in the same area as they have closed their stripping operation on route 61 coming from Centralia. They haul the raw coal from Morris Ridge to their site on 61 where it is then transported to their breaker in Mahanoy City.

facing front of scale looking at 61 there north west of scale house end of mt carmel you correct about Blaschak not mining across from scale house on north side 61 anymore only breaker in Mahanoy City. is Blaschak breaker Tony still owns 49% of the company

They process the coal at scale house the same way UAE did by crushing and sizing it hence the dirt on coal if it was ran though breaker it would be clean washed coal either the crusher and screens are up behind scale house like UAE had or its over by the one of the holes or 54 61 intersection going up mt left or right side
