Hope I'm writing this in the right section. A couple of sources for Coal in Southern WNY I'm not affiliated, with them but they were both friendly and not computer savy. I suggested they ought to check out this site, and neither were computer types. I found one on the way to the Vetrinarian and the other with a sign on his truck in the parking lot of TSC

First: is Strictly Coal in Collins NY. He is a Hitzer retailer and sells Franklin Coal bagged in all sizes. $312 a ton before tax. 716-532-3226

Second is J+L coal and pellets in Machias NY, He is right on Route 16 and convenient. He sells Kimmel's coal bagged, and gets some other brands as well. $280 a ton (thats the tax included price), and he breaks the pallets up and Cattaraugus county has less sales tax than Erie.

kinda third is Countryside Chimney and Stove. in Holland NY, I called looking for Coal, they only had Rice and seemed insulted I asked for a reference to a supply for coal. (They sell coal stoves!!!) I paid $8.33 a bag for blaschak forty pound. I'm not a fan of this outfit. They have an extensive showroom, but they could use a charm makeover.

As a new burner to coal, I've found this site a real treat, trying to give back a little.

Quality Lawn and Landscape sells bulk and bagged. Delivery radius of Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Allegany, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung counties. Worth checking for those who might not be too far away as they're located in a non taxed county.

Anyone know of any bulk suppliers closer to Erie, PA?

Thats where I get my coal from... Country side is way over priced and have horrible service they always seem annoyed that you are even there... There is a place in Arcade that I have bought coal from can't remember there name and tax free from what I remember.

This summer I saw Wendel's coal signs,( I've been driving 25 minutes when he was 3 minutes away) I asked. incredulously "you sell coal?" We've been buying turkeys there for decades. Without a doubt he is knowledgeable and also sells in bulk and also wood pellets. Can't recommend more highly.

I go through Dave Wendell also. It is good to know that the prices for coal are fairly consistent throughout WNY. I haven't asked him yet, but do you guys know if his bulk is much cheaper than the bagged??? It wouldn't be worth my time to mess with bulk, unless it is considerably cheaper. Bags are way more convenient.

Wendels bulk was around 10-20% cheaper. But he is iced up on bulk as of new years.

Ray Station Coal, Alexander NY

Bulk coal picked up at the store is $270.00/ton and bags are $335.00/ton. Bags are available in 40 and 50 pound bags.

Delivery (Charge) is available in bulk and bags. If you live in Orleans (4%), Niagara (4%) or Erie (4.75%) county, those counties have a solid fuel tax that we must charge you for bring coal into that county. Genesee county DOES NOT have a solid fuel tax. There is NO sales tax on coal in general.

Those prices are crazy.

We're $240/ton bulk, $290/ton bagged and deliver to all of those counties. Anyone interested, feel free to reach out to me, and we'll take good care of you!
