Uh oh I didn't mean to start a war here. It would be cool to see the results of those tests. As for Lehigh vs Uae Harmony thats funny you should say that cause my last batch of coal was Lehigh. I did my own test and loaded the stove with Lehigh before I got the Uae Harmony delievered. Maybe my stove likes it better but I don't know. This is my personal expericence and opinion I got 1/3 less ash with Uae Harmony. Also it seems to just burn better and I seem to have to load the hopper less.

Well, I'm betting the color ash isn't the culprit.. I'm bettin there is good white ash and not so good white ash. At the same time I'm bettin there is good red ash and not so good red ash. Interestingly enough, I've recently had some quite brow raising observations. This year, I got 3 loads of coal - 2400 pounds at a time. The first and second load are red ash, burns long and hot, very dense stuff. A month later (Dec 1st) I got my 3rd load, poured it on top my first two loads. 2 days later I see white ash in the ash pan
So between my 2nd and 3rd load my supplier apparently got another load of coal from somewhere else? or maybe its just a different part of the same mine, I dunno. But I do know, I like the characteristics of the red ash better. The white ash seems to be burning up faster. Not sure yet.

It doesn't matter if its red or white ash for me. I couldn't even tell you want mine is, red,grey, white. Oh yeah I'm color blind.

I would like to try some of this real good coal that Matt has been talking about. Seems like he is pretty sure about it. Hopefully when the truck is back on the road, I can talk Matt into a little tour of the coal fields. Pick up a ton of the good stuff and see what's got him all excited.

Thanks Dennis. Shame about that although I might consider nut if it is true sized nut. My cookstove likes it and the 116 will do either also and actually runs longer on nut because I can pack more in.

Try Gale Mining,on 309 north of Tamaqua,off exit 138 from I-81,you won't get better coal anywhere.1-570-668-5410'. TT load no problem

I will still buy the TT load of Harmony any day over the TT of Lehigh
Im talking about OLD TIMERS from the coal region, LEHIGHTON HAS NO COAL!
Here are some numbers for you from WHITE ash coal from Gale mining I had analyized:
AS Received %Moisture 4.83, %Ash 6.11, %sulfur 0.48, %volatile matter 3.94, % fixed carbon 85.12
As Determined %Moisture 0.71, %Ash 6.37, % sulfur 0.50, % volitile matter 4.11, %fixed carbon 88.81
Dry %ash 6.42, % sulfur 0.50%, % volitile matter 4.14, % fixed carbon 89.45

UAE is also red ash coal, not sure about superior
