If lsayre would be burning the same size as you are, your experience on sizing is more relevant than that of people like me who burn the smaller sizes.

It's pea and the size is consistent.

Pea is the size I need.

I burned som Jeddo rice/buck mix many years ago, it had a lot more ash than the UAE.. I think UAE is the low-ash king..
Nothing wrong with heat output from either.

When burning a LOT of coal, an addtional 5% ash makes a lot of difference..

I wonder how the two compare as to dust and fines?

Jeddo now claims 8.65% ash for pea and around 8 percent for a rice/buck mix. If those are accurate the difference vs. UAE is probably pretty small.

I found that the volume of Jeddo's ash at the 8 point something was close to Harmony's 7 point something. Jeddo ash is heavier. They have to mix in some low grade to get a good burn. 55 gallon barrel of Jeddo get's the same amount of ash as the Harmony but it is heavier.

For those of you with AA or AHS boilers, how do Jeddo and Harmony work specifically with this breed of boilers? I seem to recall someone with an AHS saying that the only time they ever got a puff-back was with red ash coal, and Harmony is red ash. I don't know if Jeddo is red or white ash, or if it makes any difference in these boilers. I've also heard that red ash clinkers (or is it klinkers?) more, but my AHS boiler seems to chew through clinkers and spit them out without much issue, so perhaps that aspect of these two coals makes no difference either.

Maybe when whistlenut figures out that Scott is deadlifting 55-gallon barrels of ash he will stop messing on him?

If Jeddo is ~8% ash, then I'd not have any reservation about burning it. I wish I could get a ton or two to try and do an accurate comparrison to my UAE.

Red Ash coal does clinker easier than white ash coal. but since our AHS and AA boilers seem to grind up the clinkers, then it's really not an issue.
