Thompson Bros. Coal

Just called them about price for rice coal, $260.00 ton, you pick up. I asked what mine it came from and they could not tell me, they said they had it trucked in and I would have to ask the trucking company ( kinda scares me off ) Just would like to know if anyone else has bought coal from them and if it was any good? Any other way to find out what mine it came from?

Seems a lot of dealers are spooked about telling customers they don't see regularly about where their bulk coal comes from. If you tell them you are interested in coal from a certain seam they might be more forthcoming. At least that has been my experience.

I would really like to know because I want to get 10 ton and want to make sure it is good coal, They are located in New Springfield Ohio. If I have to I will call them back and try to talk to someone higher up, just thought that maybe some of you fellows have dealt with them. I know they have been there for years, If anyone is interested in asking them for prices on coal their number is 330-549-3979

I bought some Bit coal off of them.

Asked about the Anthracite mine too and they didn't tell me. It would really help if they knew or would tell.

There's a place near Beaver falls PA, about 1/2 hour from Thompsons that I heard was selling for $230/ton. Again don't know what mine or any details.

Dettinger Coal Yard Rt 51 Beaver Falls PA 724-843-3773. Call to verify he will be there. About 1 mile off Rt 60.

I've never actually dealt with the guy myself.

I am just a little north of you guys, and I use a guy in New Wilmington Pa. to get my nut coal from he is at 200.00 a ton picked up and there is a 10.00 dollar loading fee. He has bagged rice coal for around 300.00 a skid which is 2400lbs it is Blaschak coal.

Burned 1.5 ton of Dettingers rice Summit Coal, slow and very hot burning...$240./
He was about out of rice last I knew. What size you looking to get?

Thompson's, rice was good stuff, and so was the bagged rice Blaschak's in New Wilmington.

I burned a half a ton of Thompson Bros. coal. It burns well with minor swelling and the clinkering is a little but not too bad. There are some volitiles, but within a half to 45 min they are burned off.

Looking to buy rice coal, called Beaver Falls and he is sold out of rice till fall, he said he would order a truckload if I could find someone to split it with me, I want 10-12 ton

thompson bros are good people to deal with. I don't know the quality or source of their anthracite coal, but I do know that, if possible, I prefer to do business with them over many other coal mining companies I've dealt with.
