Premium or Standard Rice Coal?
Whilst calling around for rice anthracite coal prices many places offered 2 varieties; standard or premium. The premium in most cases was $20-$30 more than the standard per ton, is "premium" coal worth the extra money? and Why?

e.alleg the only thing that I can think off that one would have been washed and cleaned and the other was not or one might be stripping coal and the other deep mined should not make a differents in price between the strip or deep but clean and dirty would that is all that I can think of take care

Standard or Premium? thats new to me also. Down here I never heard of it. If I were you I would just come out and ask the people selling it what the difference is and see what they say.

Maybe they are just trying to make an extra buck or two on the same stuff and just call it PREMIUM?
Unless it's the ash content or the mine it came from or it is washed, oiled etc...? weird.

That sounds to me like you called his bluff and he probably sells "premium" to the people new to coal burning or to the consumers who don't ask questions about what they are buying. I cant imagine a retailer selling two like products for a different price and not knowing the difference himself. Jim

the difference between regular and super unleaded is about $0.20 a gal. unless you have a turbo or a blower you are waisting your money on super. all super does is stop engine knock. It does NOTHING else!

My coal dealer has two differnt types the premium is low ash and the other is not. He says only to buy the low ash if low ash is important to you.
It is from a different mine.
