901 is hilly form 81 to Mount Carmel, but so is every other way there.
If you got to 61 you'll add a lot of miles and still have hills.

Now assuming I'm driving from Harrisburg on I81 north. Should I get off at State Route 901 (Sunbury Rd) or continue two more exits to US 61 Frackville. I'll be driving a diesel pickup with a 10 ton trailer.
John Just pick the phone up call me I will take you there Not a problem for me I-81 Exit 116 Route 901 is where you won't to go Remember I had you at the 901 Pub on one of the coal tours well that is the same road to take to UAE Rt 901
towards Lavelle PA. when your at the ramp exit 116 you make a left . If you would make a right and go down the hill you would see the 901 Pub where we had a meeting & lunch . Just call when your ready to come up I can be at the exit in 20 Minutes or less. As for seeing a breaker on any map you will not see one because there is no breaker what they use is a crusher and sizing screens /shaker screen tables the raw coal comes out of mine loaded in to the crusher then is broken
up then it is sized Thur the screens then taken down the mountain to the scale house and into the coal bins the crusher is up the top of mountain where the mine entrance is at won't see it on any map

Well being we are in NEPA not much you can do about mountain and hills But from exit 116 off of I -81 / Rt 901 to lavelle
Once you in lavelle there is a short cut to avoid the big mountain road go in to Mount Carmel in the lavelle there is a road that cuts over to rt 54 around the big 901 mountain . In lavelle passed the shell station you would take a right follow road stay left at Y to Route 54 at stop sign take a right go up the little hill make a left to 61 at the top follow 3 miles to centralia at 4 way stop make left on 61 go 3 miles to jug handle take right to stop sign in front across the road in UAE cross intersection stay left then first right on Harmony road to scale house / trailer

Dude
Throw your GPS away and just drive. Get off at 61 Frackville continue on 61North thru Frackville at the north end of town 61 turns left follow 61 into Ashland at the top of the hill 61 turns right you'll go about two miles and the road detours off to the right ( thats because of the old mine fire), after that you'll come to a stop sign there'll be a sign saying Mt Carmel to the left. Turn left follow that road about two miles( you'll see a big PenDot salt shed off on your right) a little bit after that there will be a jug handle on your side of the road to make a U-turn. UAE Harmony is on the other side of the road.

I made a trip out to there yesterday and came home with another ton and a half. Still @ $150/ton. No big lines and the bins were all full.I tarped up and was on my way in short order. I think I got a batch that can't make dust for a while,it was still dripping when I got to my driveway. It was 144 miles round trip and 8 gallons of fuel.Diesel is now at $3.50 around here so it cost me $28.00 to go and collect the coal.A true bargain. I made the trip to Harmony today. I got just under three tons in the gravity wagon
that I chain to a flat bed truck. I saw some big frozen chunks go in when I got loaded,
but didn't plan on the top four inches being frozen solid by the time I got home. The
side chute was also frozen solid. Took a little bit of wacking to get the coal to flow.
Good lesson. Don't get coal in the winter time. The only advantage is that you don't
work up a sweat unloading.
I'll load the boiler up with Harmony tonight and see how it performs. It looks nice.

I have the boiler running on the Harmony now.
Observations:
The coal is sized correctly. 100 % through a 1/2 in screen 95 % through a 3/8 screen.
The coal burns with very little ash.
What else can you ask ?

I always stop at the Turkey Hill for a fresh coffee, make a u-turn and head back to the coal bins for my load. I am still amazed driving through the old anthracite mining towns in the region. Sort of like going back in time. And still lots of poverty too. Kind of sad in way too.

I'm due in the next two weeks. For a hot coffee at the Turkey Hill in Mt Carmel that is... :D
