BNSF is the biggest railroad in the world. It's Burlington Northern Santa Fe. I'm sure they can be helpful if you have a railroad siding and can handle 100 ton hopper car loads of coal at a time. Remember, economy of scale. :D

I would like 100 ton deliveries also. The 100 ton unloader was decommissioned about 40 years ago. VERY sad for us.
Rail is by far the most economical means of transportation on the continent. Water and rail used to be the method of choice in coal and still would be if big oil didn't put the hurt on them. Perhaps the greed and union issues didn't help much either.

Each industry seems to have its own method of shooting itself in the foot. What goes around, comes around.
I guess the possibility of having a small nuclear reactor in each town is out the window....

This desire to find a coal source and have it delivered in small quantities at a very cheap price is just not possible. Economy of scale does not occur with such small quantities......and will not. A 'Fair' price is subjective to each person.
Bob up in Ft Kent gets a terrific deal at less than $250/ton because truckers from his area are deadheading back from lumber deliveries and a little money sure beats nothing for the long ride. It is closer to $300 a ton (or more) here, a few hundred miles closer to the source. It is what the market provides, and being thrifty is not the same as being downright 'Cheap Pr**k'.
If you cannot consider it fair for everyone in the supply chain to be paid for their time and services, then you need to look elsewhere for a heating source, you don't deserve to burn coal. :!:

In case no one checked, neither of the phone numbers listed for Ryan are active, so unless you know something I don't this is a very strange way to introduce you support of the coal distribution in the USA. Anyone who wants to play detective can fill us in later. BNSF is a HUGE company, so this needs to be resolved right away.......they won't think this is funny.

Doug, I was paying $265 a ton for bagged. The price is going to go up because of fuel prices. Still cheaper than what some other people are paying. :D

Well WN, I called information in Denmark, and they have no listing for BNSF--I think that's what she said--she was speaking Denmarkian I guess. She also told me that as far as she knew, nothing was wrong there. toothy
