I would like to start by saying This has probably been a topic before..

I am new to coal (there is something you've never heard before) I am wondering what the best way to store coal in bulk is.. I've considerd a silo.. or just a framed wooden bin.. I'd like some ideas cause by the bag is expencive! I don't have room in the garage for storage.. the basement floods in the spring. Any ideas from the world of coal? (And I can't spell worth beans)

Welcome to the forum MisCheetah! On any page in this forum there is a Google custom search option in the upper right. Just type in coal bins and you'll get a number of links to threads on this topic. The thread that is very popular is Coal Bin pics. It's a good start for ideas on how to coral your pile-to-be.

DO a search on here for COAL Storage, Coal Bins, etc...wooden box, crate, anything will work fin. Just consider the size, 40 cubic feet per ton, there is a section for Coal Bin Sizing too....good luck. The water won't hurt it, unless it freezes, it doesn't absorb moisture.....

There is a small amount of moisture content in all coal Anthracite has less then 15% in it . Bit coal has about 5% more in it 20% more or less moisture content.
