Now that spring is about here as far as temps are concerned,I will be shutting down in a couple of weeks.I emptied my trailer and the remainder is in the basement. I will get a full load of composted mulch for the garden this Saturday. It is available free to people from this township. As soon as that is out of the trailer and on the garden, the trailer will be headed back up to Harmony for another 3500#. I think it is good to get it before the fall rush. It can sit all summer and won't bother anyone or anything. As my wonderful father in law used to say,"It don't eat no hay". I really miss that man. Mike

Just went to Harmony Mine on friday, picked up 4 3/4 ton. Never used there coal before but sure looks nice.
Still 150.00 ton. Trip was 75 mile each way & 20 gal of gas. Coal around here is 210.00 bulk, 40lb bags in bulk
245.00 ton. Used my stock trailer & pick up, loaded both of them. People at the mine were very nice. It made
for a nice trip. :)

Being I'm not taking much for granted these days, coupled with the fact that I don't live anywhere near the place,I figured an update was a good idea for those of us who aren't as lucky as you. Coal Berner, you are a welcome treasure chest of damn good info,no matter how small. Thanx.

Check page 2 of this thread for suggestions. I think the 12/6 has surge brakes. Check what class hitch you have on the van and figure you tongue wt. from there. As for the trailer load w/o plywood extensions, get the measurements from their web site. ~ 40 cubic feet per ton. The buckets should give you about 1400 lbs of volume, give or take. (40/5)*6=1440 Make sure that the buckets can't climb into the drivers compartment with you if you have to stop short. It won't be pretty nor will you be

ive been there three times in the last month. the coal fire has been filled from trunk to floor to ceiling.

if I remember correctly they had a note on their window saying they would be open Saturdays starting in the beginning of October. I think from like 7-12. I'm sure coal burner could let you know if thats right or not.

each time ive been there they have had lots of coal to go around and they seem to be pretty busy each time I stop by.

with the 6x12 uhaul you will need plywood on back if your getting the ramp model because if you haling bulk loose it will fall out with out ramp no need for plywood unles your getting 3.5 or more tons then you will need plywood all the way
around with 36 buckets you will get just a little over a 1/2 ton 36lbs x 36 buckets = 1296lbs maybe 1440lbs if you fill them to the top 40lbs x 36 = 1440lbs
