Like with alot of things there under rated like I said I know one member that comes down from Conn. once or twice
a year with a 6x12 & a dump truck he always puts in 4 tons & 4.5 In the truck . another member always use to come up with a 5x9 or 5x8 trailer and put in 3 to 3.5 Tons before he bought a truck The tires have a high load rate on them and the springs on the trailer are very heavy more then most trucks on the road . My truck is a 1/2 ton I put on 1 to 1.5 tons all the time some times more .

I make sure the PSI on the tires are at max and I Take my time I drive from 34 up to 46 miles round trip up and down
some pretty big Mountains

Just be sure to call first before you go to make sure they have the size coal you need. I was there around 8 AM this morning before the worst of the snow hit. I got 1-1/4 ton of rice and I doubt there was another ton left in the bin after I was loaded. There was decent piles of buck, pea, and nut though.
They do refill the bins threw out the day they use the big loaders and Tri axle and bring the coal down from the top of the mountain

I really need to get up there as I have about 3 days left on hard coal then ill have to burn bit again which I just don't want to do but when it comes down to it its better than paying the gas man
No stove size or barley size coal at Harmony

I confess, it was me. The recommended payload on those trailers is way below what they can safely carry. I can see why they list their capacity so low, to knuckleheads like me won't try to see how much they can really carry. The big open trailer with the surge brakes was the best, but it's hard to find a dealer who has one. The biggest PIA is getting home and unloading it so it can go back before the deadline.

I'll repeat: Check the air in the tires and drive slowly!

If I can carry 5,000 lbs. on a trailer with a 2,990 GWVR ..... those should be good for 5 - 6 tons easy! :D :D

Here's 1.5 tons in a 1/2 ton pickup ... :D

....and drive it a few hundred miles at 65 mph on the level, 15 mph up the hills, and smoke the brakes at 75 down the hills....
let me know when you are going to be traveling, so I can be headed in the opposite direction! If anything happens, the money you would have saved will be a pittance compared to the paperwork involved in retaining your freedom from the judicial system......and hopefully no one other than yourself will become a footnote in history.

Easy big boy like I said before there is a member other then wood ncoal that comes down from Conn. once or sometimes twice a year and fills that same trailer 6x12 with 4 tons plus a drump truck with 4.5 tons and he never had a problem he has been doing it for 4 years now there built very heavy the tires are rated 2300 or 2600 lbs each x 4 with the 6x12 they have surge brakes and very big springs bigger then most trucks on the road .

Gotta have a sense of humor. PS: If Greg could get us some aviation tires that will fit the rims, we can solve the tire problem......but the axles themselves...that's another matter! Ceramic brakes....triple discs....I want to see a Prius loaded to 800 lbs in bags pulling a dual axle with 3.25 tons on it...surge brakes......holy s****!!!!!
Penn DOT would make a whole "Reality EWE-HAUL" series out of that one!!!  :surrender: :woot: :eek2:
