$380/ton is really high, even with diesel at ~$2.80/gallon. I paid $330/ton back in the fall, that was too much also. I'm doing something different next year... I'd definitely consider splitting 1/2 a tractor trailer load of Blaschak rice with another rice burner out there.

I think they want 5.99 a bag for 40lb bags at my local hardware store. What a ripoff. especially when I have a place in town that delivers bulk for 195 a ton and pickup 185 ton bulk. And I can drive 30 min down the road pick up coal my self for 150 a ton. Bagged coal is a major rip off

That is a good idea. I think Freddy paid in the $245-$250 range for a TT load.

On 23 tons you would save about $1300.

Where?

As for splitting a load, you have to remember that it's about a grand to get it here...
And you'll need a fork lift to offload it, the truckers only back into your yard..

We KNOW that PA guys get cheaper coal, that is why I asked the question on the
Maine board.. It doesn't help us (NH/ME) knowing what it costs in PA...

yeah I don't look at what forum it comes from, I just go to active topics. you can still get your coal a lot cheaper if you would make some phone calls and take a big load. other people on the forum have done so.
