How much nut coal can a 55 gallon drum hold? I have someone who wants to get it out of his garage, however, he is a small distance from my house and I was just wondering if anyone knows the answer. He only has two drums full.

I was just weighing coal by the 5 gallon bucket, it was 38lbs per bucket. 11 x 38 = 418lbs. Yep, around 400lbs. :)

Update:

I contacted the guy and informed him that I would not drive the distance to his home to purchase the coal. The price for the coal was very cheap, however, the distance I had to drive made the difference. He e-mailed me with a final offer of $20 for both drums and he would help load the coal on my truck. He doesn't burn coal and just wants the two drums out of his garage. $20 for eight hundred pounds of nut coal (3 cents per pound), I'm making a road trip this weekend.
