Looking for Coal Delivery Guy or a Dump Truck in NEPA

New to coal and looking to get a coal delivery. I'm in far Northern Wayne Co. The prices I'm getting are mind boggling. I know I can get it for 135 from Pittston. But the delivered prices are out of sight. higher than 200 bucks a ton. Pittston is less than 30 miles away. This is highway robbery. I'm willing to get 5-6 tons if need be.

Does anyone know of a guy with a truck that would like a morning trip? It doesn't have to be a "coal" truck. The coal will be in a large bin outside so a regular dump truck would be fine.

Unless it's right near I-81 a delivery to or around the NY border is usually a 5 hour trip Depends where you're at but having delivered up that way before that's about 4 to 5 hour round trip in a coal truck. Most of the roads up there aren't exactly truck friendly and you can't make time like you can in a car. The price is about right especially if you're in northern Wayne county, actually not much more than what I was charging. You could make 4 or 5 trips and get it yourself but that's a lot of work and going to take you two days. ;)

Saved by the wood delivering Neighbor....

He has agreed to take a trip down in his dump truck... It will hold 5 tons... Sweet.

He is charging me just a delivery charge or 125 for the trip. This works out to $160 a ton. Just so you all know a Big tandem 20 ton truck rents for 65 an hour + 50 cents a mile. So the above trip would cost 50 bucks for the mileage and 4 hours time(no one works less than half day) or 260. For a total of 310 for the delivery fee. 985 bucks for five ton or 197 a ton. This would be cheaper than the 205 noted above. Yeah, it's a waste to use such a big truck for such a small load but it would still be cheaper. I suggest to anyone looking for coal to call a local business that has trucks, like a landscaper, mason, or as in my case a wood guy. They will likely cut you coal bill way down. Especially if you don't need it delivered in the special truck.

One thing to add.... When asked when I needed it done by I said any time in the next few weeks. So he is just fitting it into his schedule on a rain day or when he has time. :)

If it's going on the ground or easy backup to ground level basement window you can use regular truck but other than that it's quite a hassle. If there is any distance or height the coal truck will save a huge amount of work. You could for example put it over a 7 foot fence. If you have a short basement because the coal truck can get velocity on the coal they can chute into the back of your bin. The benefit of course is speed and no work for yourself. There's deliveries I made that took minutes that it would take someone else all day to do. The truck makes a big difference and proabaly 80% of the customers I had could not get it done easily without it.

You have to remember because of all the weight in the lift you have a lot less to deliver on a full load. The lift itself probably weighs about 2 or 3 tons so that's 2 or 4 ton of product you can't take.

I know what your saying Richard, I've moved material with and without the proper equipment in the past. Right tool for the right job is always best.
